World Strongman Championship 2024

The World Strongman Championship in Dubai were held on March 28, 2024 in a new single distance format: athletes competed in random pairs. This format, according to Vladimir Burdun, the President of the International Union of World Strongman, was developed with the aim of presenting the sport of strongman in the Olympic movement.

The prospects for recognition of strongman sport were discussed with world sports leaders who visited the World Championships: Ivo Ferriani, member of the IOC Executive Committee, President of the SportAccord; Stefan Fox, President of the Alliance of Independent Members of Sports (AIMS); Julia Govinden, President of United Through Sport (UTS). The distinguished guests provided explanations of the current situation, stages and principles of joining the Olympic movement at the annual general meeting of the International Union of World Strongman.

The World Strongman event was attended by representatives from 42 countries. The Dubai Sports Council’s support for the World Strongman Championships underscored the UAE’s commitment to innovation as one of the world’s leading sporting destinations. The organizing operator was Emirates Sports Group.

– among women U75, Brendali Theron from South Africa/UAE won (10 points), Natalya Kuznetsova from Russia (8 points) was in second place, Fatma Mohamed El-Gazzar from Egypt was in third place (6 points);

   – among men in the U95 category, Vladlen Valyaev from Russia won (35 points), second place was Sahib Bahirov from Azerbaijan (34 points), third place was Artem Mironov from Russia (31 points);

– among men in the U110 category, Leonty Miroshnik from Russia won (30 points), second place Alexey Kosterin from Russia (28 points), third place Roman Druzhinin from Russia (26 points).
